To get closer to everyday Grozny, leave time at street level rather than relying only on an elevated viewpoint. Mahmud Esambayev Boulevard and Flower Park beside Grozny City provide different outdoor settings. You might choose one to begin the day and the other for a pause after a meal. That keeps the visit from becoming a succession of buildings to reach. Shopfronts, seating and the routes people use through the city can be as revealing as its skyline.

The Chechen Republic Museum's archaeology and fine-art sections add another dimension to a city walk. Archaeology invites attention to objects and production in earlier periods; painting offers a different visual language. Choosing one section can be more satisfying than passing every display at the same speed. Start with the object or picture that interests you most, then compare nearby examples. Oil industry has an important place in Grozny's history. The museum's accounts of the city remind visitors that today's high-rise buildings tell only part of the story.
