Planning mountain roads
Distance alone does not predict time. Add fog, rain, road works, photo stops and daylight. Ask for a locally experienced driver, include waiting and return in the agreement, and carry offline maps and backup power.
Separate city, intercity and highland transport
A short taxi or walk in central Grozny, the Argun–Shali city corridor and a highland day to Kezenoy-Am or the Argun Gorge are different transport problems. Record vehicle type, waiting, return and price terms separately. When scheduled transport appears available, verify the current service and final return, and never arrange only the outbound leg for a remote route. Confirm driver, plate, fare and destination before boarding; request seat belts and a child seat at booking.
