Visitors heading into the mountain routes around Itum-Kali now have a new starting point. The Lekhe recreation base has opened alongside the district’s first GoLam rental points, allowing travellers to hire outdoor equipment locally. Current prices, stock and opening hours were not included in the institutional announcements, so they should be confirmed directly before a visit.
At a glance
- Lekhe has opened as a new recreation and route-starting point in the Itum-Kali district.
- The first GoLam points allow outdoor equipment to be hired locally.
- Prices, availability, reservations and opening hours should be checked before travelling.
What has changed?
Travellers previously had to carry most essential outdoor equipment from Grozny or their home city. Local rental points create a new option for shorter walks with lighter luggage. The announcements do not publish an inventory or technical specifications, however: bringing personal-fit items such as footwear and checking the model and condition of rented gear at handover remains the safest approach.
Which routes does it serve?
Institutional reports highlight the Tsoi-Pede necropolis, Phakoch castle complex, Ushkaloy towers, the Sharoy-Argun valley, the foothills of Tebulosmta and Veduchi. These are not routes of equal difficulty or access. Heritage stops may suit a short drive-and-walk combination, while high-mountain objectives can require suitable weather, guidance, permissions and technical preparation.
Four questions before hiring gear
First ask which equipment is genuinely needed for your chosen route. Then confirm fit, condition at handover and return time in writing, and learn how a booking changes if the weather deteriorates. Hiring a helmet, poles or a backpack does not include guiding or rescue support; prepare a return plan and offline route information separately.
