How to build a four-day route
Give day one to Vladikavkaz's historic centre and museum. On day two follow the Kurtat Gorge, Dzivgis and Dargavs line, adding Midagrabin only when road and water conditions support it. Treat Tsey as a separate valley day. For day four, an overnight in Digoria is more balanced than a rushed return trip. A fifth day can hold a short park route or museums missed in Vladikavkaz.
Etiquette at necropolises, towers and living villages
Dargavs is a historic burial ground and museum, not a photographic set. Stay within marked boundaries, do not climb structures, and ask the institution about drone rules. Some Kurtat and Digoria stops sit inside living settlements, so request permission before close photographs of homes or people. Do not turn a guide's legend into documented history; distinguish museum interpretation, institutional publication and oral memory.
Three valleys, three different tempos
The Kurtat line is a road day dense with architectural and historic stops. Tsey is shaped more by forest walking, altitude and changeable weather. Digoria is a farther, overnight nature-and-culture cluster governed by park rules. Combining valleys that appear close on a map turns the visit into driving time. Choose one main valley per day and keep a practical city alternative for mist, rain or road work.

Mountain access depends not only on season but on rainfall, maintenance and protection regimes. Recheck the official route page, park notices and local forecast 24–48 hours before travel. Carry an offline map, grippy shoes, water and layers for temperature changes. Set a return time before attempting Midagrabin or a remote Digoria trail. Confirm fees, opening hours and vehicle suitability from the responsible institution on the day, not from this guide.
