A first seven-day route
Give Tbilisi two full days, Mtskheta one day and Stepantsminda two nights; use the remainder as road buffer and a second museum or neighbourhood day in Tbilisi. Extend to nine days if adding Kakheti. Fitting Kutaisi, Svaneti and Batumi into the same seven days turns the trip into luggage handling rather than discovery.
East and west are two different journeys
The eastern line connects Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Kazbegi and Kakheti through city life, sacred architecture and vineyard landscapes. The west opens from Kutaisi towards either Svaneti or Batumi. With fewer than ten days, choosing one line protects the trip when weather or transport changes. Mountain access to Svaneti needs a separate seasonal check.
Table culture and daily rhythm
Khinkali, khachapuri and wine do not by themselves explain Georgian cuisine. Regional versions, dough-to-cheese balance and home versus restaurant presentation differ. Ask about region rather than treating a menu's origin claim as absolute. Check dress and photography rules at religious buildings, and ask before portraits in markets.

Six to seven days work for Tbilisi–Mtskheta–Kazbegi; ten to fourteen days better suit both eastern and western clusters.
02Batumi or Kazbegi on a first trip?+
Kazbegi makes a more coherent short trip from Tbilisi. Batumi works better as part of a separate western route with Kutaisi.
03When is the best time to visit Georgia?+
Spring and autumn suit cities and wine regions; summer is generally more practical for high-mountain walking once roads and trails are open. Check the specific destination.
